Neighborhood clean-up.
Engage | Family & Building Community
"Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much." — Helen Keller
Objective
Empower families to transform their local community from a place of passive residency into a thriving, unified neighborhood by facilitating a collaborative clean-up event that solves environmental neglect and instills collective pride.
Facilitation Strategies:
• Organize a "Pass the Paintbrush" mural event where families collaborate to paint a community-designed public artwork during the clean-up.
• Host a "Clean-up & Storytelling Circle" at the end of the day to allow residents to share personal histories of the neighborhood over a shared meal.
• Create a "Green Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt" for youth participants to collect recyclables and identify local environmental hazards together.
• Partner with local leaders to conduct site-based Toolbox Talks on community care and shared responsibility before launching the clean-up.
