Hold Mental Health Toolbox Talks.
Retain | Employee Well Being
"What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candor, and more unashamed conversation." — Glenn Close
Objective
Equip facilitators to guide employees through mental health challenges by delivering regular toolbox talks, empowering a culture of open dialogue that fosters employee well-being and boosts retention.
Facilitation Strategies:
• Launch a "Break the Silence" site pledge during Construction Inclusion Week where workers sign a hard-hat sticker committing to supportive mental health conversations.
• Host interactive scenario-based roleplay sessions during morning stand-downs to practice identifying signs of burnout and offering peer support.
• Set up a designated quiet/decompression zone on active job sites equipped with printed mental health resources, mindfulness prompts, and support contacts.
• Facilitate a guided "Stress Drop Box" activity where workers anonymously submit top workplace stressors, followed by a group discussion on actionable coping strategies.
