"A lot of people have gone further than they thought they could because someone else thought they could." — Zig Ziglar
Objective
Position seasoned team members as trusted guides who pair with new hires to help them navigate workplace challenges, overcome early uncertainties, and build a successful, long-term career within the organization.
Facilitation Strategies:
• Launch a structured "Buddy Breakfast" series during Construction Inclusion Week where experienced mentors and new hires meet informally to discuss workplace navigation over coffee.
• Create a digital "Buddy Passport" tracking monthly milestones, site visits, and key organizational introductions for pairs to complete together during the first year.
• Host a interactive "Day in the Life" job-shadowing swap where buddies visit each other's project sites or departments to broaden organizational perspective.
• Establish quarterly peer-facilitated roundtable discussions for buddy pairs to share challenges, career growth strategies, and best practices.
